Ensembles
Concert Band
A core auditioned ensemble for woodwind, brass, percussion, and double bass players. Membership is based on ability rather than age. The band performs at community events, school functions, and competitions. Regular rehearsals and performances are required, and students are encouraged to take private lessons.
Wind Symphony
A core audition-based ensemble for advanced wind and percussion players. This group performs at school and community events and is part of the College's touring program. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled before major performances, and private lessons are strongly recommended.
String Ensemble
A core intermediate-level ensemble for students in Years 7–12 who play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Rehearsing weekly, students develop their ensemble skills, musicianship, and confidence while performing a diverse range of repertoire in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Chamber Strings
A core, more advanced level ensemble for students who play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Rehearsing weekly, students develop their ensemble skills, musicianship, and confidence while performing a diverse range of repertoire in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Concert Choir
A core open vocal ensemble for all students, fostering a love of choral singing while developing vocal technique. The repertoire includes popular, classical, and film music, with regular performances at school events. Weekly rehearsals are required.
Senior Vocal Group
An audition-based core vocal ensemble for senior students, offering a broad repertoire from various genres. Members develop advanced choral skills, including a cappella singing and performance versatility. Regular rehearsals, occasional weekend workshops, and a strong commitment to performances are expected.
Big Band
An audition-based ensemble for students who are also members of a core instrumental ensemble. This group extends student's ensemble abilities, focusing on jazz and popular music. Weekly rehearsals develop skills in trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitar, bass guitar, and percussion, with opportunities for vocalists as needed. Regular performances and a strong commitment to rehearsals are expected.
Brass Ensemble
An audition-based group for trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba players. Weekly rehearsals focus on ensemble techniques and a diverse repertoire, with performance opportunities.
Cello Ensemble
An audition-based group, Cello Ensemble is an extension ensemble for cellists only. This ensemble performs a wide range of repertoire specifically written for cello. This group explore different musical roles, including melody, harmony, and bass lines.
Chamber Percussion
An advanced audition-based percussion ensemble exploring a variety of styles and instrumentation. Students develop technical skills through diverse repertoire, including orchestral and world percussion. Weekly rehearsals and regular performances are expected.
Chapel Bands
This is a great opportunity to use your musical gifts, be part of a team, and help create a meaningful and engaging atmosphere of worship during our chapel services. All instruments and vocalists welcome.
Contemporary Music Ensembles
Contemporary music provides students from all year levels with the opportunity to perform and explore a wide range of modern music styles, including rock, pop, indie, and other genres that reflect student’s interests. The program aims to include Australian and current music alongside well-loved classics, creating diverse and engaging repertoire. Contemporary music is further supported through additional performance opportunities, including informal lunchtime concerts and contemporary worship bands, allowing students to build confidence and experience in a variety of performance settings.
Keyboard Ensemble
Piano students don't often get the chance to play together, making Keyboard Ensemble a unique and rewarding experience. Through collaborative performance, students develop important musicianship skills including rhythmic accuracy, active listening, ensemble awareness, and the ability to stay in time.
Percussion Ensemble
This ensemble explores a variety of styles and instrumentation. Students develop technical skills through diverse repertoire, including orchestral and world percussion. Weekly rehearsals and regular performances are expected, as well as membership of Concert Band.
Stage Band
This is an extension ensemble, for students from any year level. Students are provided with opportunity to explore Jazz, Latin, Swing and Funk/Rock styles.
Students who are in a core ensemble can apply to audition for a place in Stage Band.
String Quartet
An audition-based ensemble for two violinists, one violist and one cellist. Students rehearse weekly with an experienced tutor, to create repertoire for a diverse range of performance contexts.
Woodwind Ensemble
An audition-based group for flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and saxophone players. Weekly rehearsals focus on ensemble techniques and a diverse repertoire, with performance opportunities.

Grace Arts Academy is a Performing Arts initiative of Grace Lutheran College and operates across a number of locations: Caboolture and Rothwell campuses for Grace Lutheran College students’ in-school programs and our local partner primary schools across the broader Moreton Bay regional community catering for all ages in dance and music, with opportunities to gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Music Industry.
