The ‘Certificate III In Music’ could be the ideal course for you to learn about the music industry and to develop your musical performance skills. The structure of the course offers you the flexibility to focus on the skills you would like to develop.

You will receive training in recording, production, musicianship and an introduction to a range of music technologies. By studying various musical styles and songwriting you will develop an understanding of the inner workings of the music industry. You will also gain copyright knowledge and acquire performance experience through a variety of opportunities to perform in a range of settings.

Pre-requisite:    Ability to play an instrument or sing is desired but not essential
Duration:           2 years | 1 afternoon per week
Investment:      $375.00/term in 2025 (subject to annual review)
QCE:                  QCE points will be awarded at completion of this course

Music Studio @ Rothwell

Grace Academy offers an excellent instrumental tuition program for school aged students after school.  The instrumental instructors can guide students through exams or simply provide the necessary skills to enjoy playing. Our lessons are open to all students and tuition is provided by caring, highly qualified, industry professionals.

The instrumental program incorporates experienced private instructors of:

  • Strings
  • Brass
  • Woodwind
  • Percussion
  • Drum Kit
  • Guitar
  • Piano
  • Vocals (both Classical and Contemporary) 

The cost of lessons in 2025 is as follows (subject to annual review):

Private Lessons (30 minutes)     *$42.50 per lesson (plus a $10.00 Administration Fee per term)

Private Lessons (45 minutes)     *$63.75 per lesson (plus a $10.00 Administration Fee per term)

Private Lessons (60 minutes)     *$85.00 per lesson (plus a $10.00 Administration Fee per term)

Private Lessons (30 minutes) Trial Lesson     $45.00 per lesson

Private Lessons (45 minutes) Trial Lesson     $65.00 per lesson

Lessons are available from 3:05pm Monday to Friday, subject to availability.  All lessons are held in our teaching rooms at Grace Lutheran College, Mewes Road, Rothwell.

Musical Theatre Class

Musical Theatre Class 

Musical Theatre Class is a Grace Academy community program for all students in Years 7-12.  Musical Theatre Class provides the opportunity to train across the areas of singing, dancing and acting. Performance training is a great way for students to build self- confidence and the ability to express themselves. All ability levels are welcome with classes catering to a wide range of student experience.

New in Term 3:  Audition Workshop Series:  The Term 3 Musical Theatre classes is designed to help prepare students for any audition opportunity they may experience in the future, including auditioning for Degree/Diploma courses at Musical Theatre/ Drama Schools.  

Students interested in auditioning for the 2026 College Musical “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” may also find these workshops valuable.  Please note that the workshops are optional and are not a compulsory prerequisite for students to be considered for the Musical. The workshops cover a broad range of audition components and are not specific to the Musical, and we invite all students to participate.

 

Audition Workshop Series - Term 3:

  • Sessions: Thursday afternoons – Term 3; Weeks 6-9 (21/08; 28/08; 4/09; 11/09)
  • Cost: $80 per student + $10 administration fee (admin fee waived for students already enrolled in Term 2 & 3)
  • Location & Time: R5 – Grace Lutheran College Dance Studio | 4:00 - 6:00 PM
  • Attire: Students should wear comfortable clothing and optional jazz shoes (footwear)
  • Topics and Skills:  the workshops include how to approach a new monologue, script and cold read; song choice and audition preparation; choreography skills and tips; managing emotions before and during the audition

     

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please note: Classes will require a minimum of 12 students to run. Class times as listed are subject to change depending on class numbers. 

Our policies for GROUP lessons:

  • For known absences, students should, out of courtesy, provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice directly to their teacher or via email graceacademy@glc.qld.edu.au or fill in the online Student Absence Notice
  • For unknown absences such as student illness, notice of absence is required by the parent/guardian to the Grace Academy office via email graceacademy@glc.qld.edu.au, fill in the online Student Absence Notice or telephone 3897 2118 by 8:00am on the morning of the absence
  • Other than teacher absence, students enrolled in group lessons will be invoiced for all timetabled lessons
  • Long-term absences due to illness/injury may be negotiated with the Director of Grace Academy
  • To help keep track of attendance, notes are sent home when students are absent from a lesson without notice

A non-refundable enrolment deposit of $25.00 per applicant is payable upon submitting all tuition applications to Grace Academy.  The full amount of the enrolment deposit will be deducted from your first fees account once your application has been finalised.  Should your application be withdrawn prior to commencement of lessons, the enrolment deposit will be forfeited in full.

Students intending to discontinue lessons are required to complete a ‘Notice of Intention to Discontinue Lessons’.  Student’s advising of their intention to discontinue lessons are required to do so prior to the end of the current term in order to avoid any unnecessary additional fees in the subsequent term.  Cancellation requests received after the commencement of term or during term will be invoiced for the full amount of the current term’s fees.
