Caboolture Campus
At Grace Lutheran College Caboolture, we offer a rich variety of Performing Arts programs where students can discover, develop and share their talents in music, drama, dance and technical production.
Here’s what’s on offer at our Caboolture Campus:
Dance
Dance Crew is an inclusive, no-experience-necessary group open to all students. Rehearsals are held during Monday lunchtimes and focus on learning a range of dance styles, having fun, and preparing performances for school events.
Dance Troupe is our auditioned performance team that rehearses Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00am. This group performs contemporary, liturgical, jazz and lyrical routines at school and public events. Costumes are provided and no dance uniform is required.
Drama & Theatre
Drama Production is an audition-based opportunity to be part of a full-length stage production rehearsed across 12 weeks. Students must commit to the entire rehearsal and performance schedule, including extra sessions closer to performance dates.
Theatresports meets on Tuesday lunchtimes and is open to all students. It’s a high-energy program focused on improvisation games, with options to compete in interschool events as part of a school team.
Musical is a large-scale, biennial production open to students across all grades. Auditions are required for the Cast and Orchestra, while students can sign up for roles in backstage crew, tech, makeup and costuming. This is a significant commitment but one of the most exciting experiences the school offers.
Music Ensembles
Concert Band, directed by Dr Emma Di Marco, rehearses on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30pm and is open to woodwind, brass and percussion players in Years 7 to 12. Students submit an expression of interest and will be placed in a suitable band.
String Ensemble, led by Mrs Jennifer Vendeberg, meets Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm and is open to violin, viola, cello, double bass and piano players. Entry is via audition, but all interested students will receive a placement.
Chamber Strings is an extension group for advanced string players. Entry is by audition and requires participation in the main String Ensemble. Students work on challenging repertoire and perform at special events.
Percussion Ensemble, directed by Mr Owen Tilbury, is for auditioned percussionists and rehearses Thursdays from 4:45 to 5:15pm. The group explores a wide range of styles and instruments.
Drum Line, run by Mr Nathan Poetschka, prepares for major school events. It meets during Monday lunchtimes in the lead-up to performances and includes students on snare, bass, tenor drums and cymbals.
Woodwind Ensemble, an extension chamber group, meets Thursday lunchtimes under Dr Emma Di Marco’s direction. Students must audition and play flute, clarinet, saxophone, or related instruments.
Vocal Group, led by Ms Grace Coleman, rehearses every Friday at lunchtime. This all-comers choir performs both pop and classical music in one to four-part harmonies.
Worship Bands are student-led groups supporting chapel and worship services. There are two groups, one for Years 7–8 and one for Years 9–12. They rehearse on Wednesdays at lunchtime and include vocals, guitars, bass, drums and other instruments.
Technical Theatre
Tech Crew, under the guidance of Ms Tavia Seymour, offers students hands-on experience in lighting, sound, and backstage operations. Open to all with a simple sign-up process (interviews may apply), this group supports events year-round and is a great fit for those interested in behind-the-scenes roles.
Extension Ensemble Requirement
Please note that students in extension groups such as Chamber Strings, Percussion Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble and Jazz band must also be part of the corresponding core ensemble. Entry is based on audition and consultation with directors.
