This festival is designed to unite, engage, challenge and inspire students in Years 1 to 6 from the local community, encouraging them to follow their passions, seek academic excellence and develop a deep love of learning.

             

WEDNESDAY 5 SEPTEMBER - YEAR 6 STUDENTS ONLY
Become A Real Scientist For A Day! 

Travel with us to the SPARQ-ED research lab at the Translational Research Institute (located next to the Prince Alexandra Hospital Woolloongabba) where you will become a scientist for the day and participate in a molecular biology research workshop. With lab coat and protective glasses on, you will have the wonderful opportunity to learn and conduct experiments with DNA in a real science research laboratory. Places are limited to 24 x Year 6 students and will be allocated on a ‘first in’ basis.  Transport will be provided by a Grace Lutheran College bus and teacher supervision will be provided by Grace Lutheran College’s Academic Enrichment Coordinator. SUNDAY 16 SEPTEMBER - YEARS 1 TO 6 STUDENTS
A wide variety of S.T.E.A.M. spectacular workshops to choose from!   

Choose your own adventure at this afternoon spectacular where a range of workshops will be on offer for students from Year 1 to Year 6. From coding, to claymation animation, Lego dragsters, the human body, dance workshops and more.. Students may attend one or both sessions. Students attending both sessions should pack their own afternoon tea and drink bottle to have during the supervised break. Students only attending one workshop can be collected at the conclusion of that session. Workshop prices range from $5 to $25 and places are limited. Book in early to avoid disappointment. TUESDAY 18 SEPTEMBER - YEARS 4 - 6 STUDENTS
Amazing Astronomy ‘Star Party’ Evening!

Why not become an Astronomer for a night? Come along to this wonderful hands-on astronomical experience under the night sky at Grace Lutheran College Caboolture Campus. Learn to shoot the moon with your own telescope and view actual Apollo landing sites amongst the craters. Why not also bring a camera to try your luck at capturing your very own lunar pic! If the weather is right, we will also be able to target the bright glow of Venus, the red dusty disc of Mars, the fascinating rings of Saturn as well as Jupiter with its four closest moons. It’s not often in a year that there are so many great objects to view all at the same time of night. This great star party will begin at 5.30pm sharp on campus and conclude at 7.00pm.
