SOCIAL SCIENCE
The Social Sciences Department offers core Social Education to all students in Years 8, 9
and 10.
Students may also choose electives which in the Junior School are:

- Geography
- Modern History
- Ancient History
A list of topics that a student in 8/9/10 might be expected to cover includes Indigenous issues, Government and Citizenship; Asian Studies; Australian and World History; Environmental Issues; Globalisation; Media and Identity; Tourism and more. The Social Sciences offer students at all levels the challenge to learn more about society, people, cultures, politics and ideas. It challenges students to become informed about our past, about current issues and also about the future both in a personal sense and in a civic sense.
There is a strong focus on developing skills in the Social Sciences including research and information skills, communication skills and co-operative group skills.
Students studying Social Science subjects are encouraged to access and use a wide variety of sources in the Inquiry Process of learning. Included are Internet and web based sources, text, magazine, audio-visual, newspaper and community resources.
