CHRISTIAN STUDIES
Christian Studies is an integral component of the curriculum at Grace Lutheran College where great emphasis is placed on growing in the Christian faith. Our mission is, in fact, to 'equip students for a life of faith and service'. There are three Christian Studies lessons per cycle.
In the junior years, the programme is based on the LIFE curriculum, a joint project of the Lutheran Church of Australia and Openbook Publishers. Cyclical in nature, topics introduced in Year 8 are revisited in greater depth in years 9 and 10. The following table summarises the units covered in the junior years

In Christian Studies, we aim to offer students challenging and thought provoking material so that they are motivated think deeply about the gospel message and what it means to them individually.
This year, the Christian Studies Department introduced the OP bound Study of Religion into the school partly in response to the desire of many of our students to make their efforts in religious studies serve their academic pursuits. The course is composed of a wide range of core and elective units including the nature and significance of religion, religion in Australia, Sacred Texts and Ritual.
The Christian Studies Department recognises the value of including into the programme field trips, incursions, excursions and retreat days.
